DRAMA
After the death of his mother, Skylar Preston (Evan Thompson) is forced to move 3,000 miles across the country to live with his father. Skylar is a young intellectual surfer who wears his emotions on his sleeve. He isn't sure where his life is going, but he is sure that his world revolved around his mother. Not only does Skylar have scars from his mother's death, but from events that have controlled his life from a young boy. When Skylar was a 10-year-old boy he was attacked and almost killed by a shark. He carries the mental and physical scars around everyday. Skylar refuses to let fear control his life, but despite his efforts, it often leaves a dark cloud over his life.
Skylar's father is Sheriff Steven Hammond (Kevin Moses). Steven's early attempts to fill the void in Skylar's life come up short. His good intentions on trying to form a relationship with Skylar are met by an emotional wall. Steven's wife Kate (Annemarie Gatto) continues to push him to work through the problems that are preventing him from developing any type of relationship with
his son.
The only thing keeping Skylar in Oak Shores is a young girl he met upon his arrival to town. Amanda Bradley (Patricia Harnage) is a person with hidden wounds much like Skylar. Amanda's boyfriend Hayden (Adam Hughes) is not very happy with Skylar's attraction to Amanda. Hayden is arrogant and treats everyone like they are inferior to him. On his first visit to the pier Skylar meets a local know to everyone in town as just Breeze (Jayvon Bowens). Breeze is a wise, singing poet that quickly takes a liking to Skylar.
Primal fear is added to the mix when a girl is killed by a shark only days after Skylar's arrival to town. The town's leader Mayor Jenkins (Richard Tardell) quickly writes the girl's death off as anything but a shark attack in order to save his summer tourist revenue.
The attack brings Skylar's deepest fear full circle and he soon believes that something is out to get him. Is there something in the water out to get Skylar? Or is it just fears itself that is controlling Skylar's mind? One thing is for sure, between love, lies, and fear Skylar has a long journey ahead of him.
No one said life was easy, and for the people of Oak Shores, life is everything but.... |
